Mt Hutt ski resort is located in Canterbury, New Zealand, about 1½ hr drive from Christchurch. With a peak elevation of 2,086m, it offers skiers and snowboarders a 650m vertical drop. It was voted NZ's Best Ski Resort in 2015.

Mt Hutt ski resort boasts wide-open terrain for all skier and snowboarder levels. Superb conditions, spectacular terrain and the famous laidback kiwi hospitality will leave you dreaming for more. Mt Hutt ski resort is a place where you can experience some thigh burn considering the substantial vertical drop (by NZ standards). The vertical combined with the steep pitch lends itself well to racing and earns Mount Hutt the title of the “capital of speed”.

Lift queues are rarely an issue. Mt Hutt ski resort has undergone recent infrastructure development to significantly improve the efficiency of the lifts. The ski area also has plenty to offer freestylers with its new mini park now offers a skill progression path into the 10,000m2 UP&GO Terrain Park. The park features a variety of kickers, rails and table-tops, and an FIS specification half-pipe.

In total Mt Hutt ski resort offers 40 km of trails. 25% (10 km) of the total terrain ideal for beginners, 50% (20 km) suitable for intermediate skiers with 25% (10 km) for the more advanced and expert level skiers and snowboarders. This is all easily accessible with 5 ski lifts – 3 chairlifts and 2 magic carpets for the kids.

Skiing terrain at Mt Hutt ski resort is brilliant for beginners and intermediates. In addition to the speedy groomers, the 365 hectares of treeless terrain also provides an infinite number of off-piste lines for expert riders. The terrain around the periphery of the resort provides skiers with a ball after a fresh dump of snow. The ski area has open spaces, but visitors will need to be assertive as the freshies won’t last for hours and hours.

Mt Hutt ski resort hosts many social and racing events. Many of the world's best racers train here to train, earning its reputation as the ‘Capital of Speed'. Moreover, the Snowsports School offer a range of ski and snowboard lessons and programmes for all ages and ability levels. The lessons include first timers, group lessons, private lessons and a variety of longer more specialised clinics.

The village at Mt Hutt ski resort is also a popular summer resort. The region's mountains and back country lakes offer adventurous outdoor activities. The village has some summer of fun planned including the Mt Hutt Bike Park that hosted stage three of the New Zealand national downhill mountain bike championships.
