Okushiga Kogen ski resort is located on the north end of the Shiga Kogen ski region of Japan. Shiga Kogen is the largest ski area in Japan with 19 ski resorts all interconnected on one ski pass. It is also where the Giant Slalom and Slalom races were held in the 1998 Nagano Olympics.

The famous Japanese powder snow, pristine skiing conditions, and long seasons, from December to May, are but a few reasons as to why world travellers come to ski in Okushiga Kogen ski resort. The ski area has 6 ski lifts and offers skiers an impressive 500m (1,641ft) of vertical descent.  It gets over 12 meters of snow a year. Very little crowds and almost no lift lines make it a perfect place to learn and enjoy Japans famous powder snow. It also has a Terrain Park, Kids Garden and some of the best tree skiing anywhere.

Okushiga Kogen ski resort has 11 pistes and is best suited for beginners skiers but there is also a terrain for intermediate and experts too. The terrain breakdown is approximately 68% beginner trails, 28% intermediate and 4% for advanced skiers and snowboarders.

Sitting in the highlands of Nagano Prefecture, Okushiga Kogen ski resort is divided into two areas that are joined at Hasuike. The southern area leads to the top of the 2,305m tall Mount Yokote and has ski runs and hot springs along the way to the summit. The northern area is flanked by a number of 2,000m high peaks providing an immense area for both skiers and snowboarders to explore.

Okushiga Kogen ski resort has a middle-sized town, so Après ski activities usually take place there. Entertainment can also be found at the nearby hot spring resort towns of Shibu Onsen and Yudanaka Onsen or the Jigokudani Monkey Park, whose wild monkeys bathe in natural hot springs.

Summers at Okushiga Kogen ski resort offer a wide variety of activities ranging from hikes to horseback riding. It's an amazing place for those seeking healthy vacations in the invigorating summer air.
